Hounslow School Streets Co-Design

My team at Sustrans London were commissioned by LB Hounslow raise the ambition for School Streets (roads shut to traffic at drop off and pick up times) in the borough. The project will see the street spaces transformed into places that are designed for and by the community. This project has put children in the lead of decision-making throughout. Every child at each of the schools has participated in workshops, site audits and voted for the changes they would like to see. Designs are currently in development but will include new public artwork, SUDs, seating and play-on-the-way. I managed this one-of-a-kind project, including leading sessions with the school community, managing project budget (~100k revenue, ~500k capital) and client relationships, working with research colleagues to assess impact.
